Cooker Meat Grill Fabrication Material

Im building an offset smoker, and its time to think about grill fab. The grills will slide in and out of the cooker to access the meat .What is the most common material used and what material works best,

The most common racks that are made are with angle iron for the frame and expanded metal for the area of the rack where the meat will be sitting. Then just use more angle for the rack supports inside the cook chamber.

Thanks sstory, I was out to-day a found some expanded metal, I think I have enough for 3 racks, Im going to use 1" angle Iron, have to go shopping for that !

i used 1 inch expanded metal but got the flat stuff not the expanded metal that is turned up and then I used 1 inch tubing to build the frames.
